EPBA - Consumer Batteries Europe Calls for Inclusion of Batteries Regulation in Omnibus Simplification Package

February 25th, 2025

Earlier this month, EPBA - Consumer Batteries Europe sent a letter to the Executive Vice-President for Prosperity and Industrial Strategy of the European Commission, Stéphane Séjourné, advocating for the inclusion of the EU Batteries Regulation in the upcoming Omnibus Simplification Package.

The Batteries Regulation introduces significant due diligence requirements, which overlap with corporate sustainability rules under the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD). EPBA believes that aligning these regulations will reduce regulatory burdens, streamline compliance processes, and create a more efficient business environment across Europe.

With the due diligence guidelines for the Batteries Regulation set to take effect in August 2025, a coordinated approach is crucial to prevent unnecessary complexity for businesses. The Omnibus Simplification Package presents an opportunity to ensure that companies can comply with both regulations under a unified framework.

EPBA - Consumer Batteries Europe remains committed to working with policymakers to promote regulatory clarity and efficiency for the battery industry.
